A Koli fisherwoman installed the old shrine to Mumba Devi on the Esplanade, just outside the British Fort, according to the popular narrative. In 1737, land was provided by the British East India Company for the relocation of the temple to Bhuleshwar.
In Mumbai, Shri Dhirubhai Ambani moved in with his family in a one-bedroom flat on the fourth floor at Jai Hind Estate, Bhuleshwar, which was leased to them free of cost by a relative who had known the Ambani family in Aden. Anil and Dipti Ambani were born during their stay at Bhuleshwar.
